As of this morning, exactly 1,000 spam have been caught by Akismet for this site. Not too shabby. Unfortunately, I don't know when this started, but it was before I got really hit.

Flooding as the worst disaster

We had some minor-major flooding on my house's closest intersection. Three cars got stuck - mid-sized vehicles like a Toyota Avalon (?). All three got pushed out of the water, but all three weren't turning over any more. Tomorrow morning I'll know how bad mine is.

First Debian install = unsuccessful

My first shot at installing Debian didn't go quite so well. I'm attempting to install on a HP Pavilion XE734, using pretty much the base system. One addition appears to be a 3Com Fast Etherlink PCI card, from the late 90s ... (3C595-TX).

I've just updated The Framing Business to work with WordPress. While doing so, I decided to take a close look at just how AdSense is working on that site, compared to just this blog. What I found was actually quite surprising.

Thanks to some great service yesterday, I've successfully logged into my Vault again, and am seeing actual data. I have a day and a half of data, but I'm already quite impressed with the user interface. I'm also extremely impressed by the feedback I've received from individuals involved in the project. Hooray!

XML parsing with PHP (and ColdFusion) and /ROOT

  • April 20, 2006
  • James Skemp
Last night, I was working through a great tutorial that steps through how to create a basic XML parser in PHP. Unfortunately, what I was going to use it for (a local Attention Recorder parser) isn't going to be possible, since the extension's XML isn't quite valid. I was hoping to at least get /ROOT Vaults to work today, in that case, but no dice on support.  So, I'll be attempting to reset my password once again, in the hope that it was just a two day problem .

AttentionTrust and problems with /ROOT

If my last post got you interested in the AttentionTrust project, and you downloaded the extension, are using it now, and are reading this on StrivingLife.net (whew, lot's of 'if's), then you may have noticed that StrivingLife.net is now a certified member.  What does that mean for you? First, that I agree with four principles that the AttentionTrust organization puts forward; 1. Property : You own your attention and can store it wherever you wish.
