Suggestion to Netflix

Hello. FYI, I'm using IE 7, and it can be somewhat difficult to update my queue. Specifically, to change the format of the movie I would like to receive. When I attempt to change the format, I will either trigger the move 'action' instead of the drop-down, while other times I can trigger the drop-down, but can't select/change to Blu-ray format. This also happens when I try to click on a title to view more details, or perhaps play instantly.

Review: Kong Cat ZoomGroom

  • April 20, 2008

This is a review for the Kong Cat ZoomGroom, which is a very nice brush. A similar product is available for dogs. I picked up one of these for my cat, who doesn't much care to be held, have her nails cut, etcetera. However, she loves this 'brush.' Not only goes this magically work loose the hair, but it seems to give a good massage, and does a fairly good job of keeping the loose hair on the brush.

Upgrading Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate (right now)

  • April 17, 2008
  • James Skemp
About 30 minutes ago I started upgrading from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate, using a NFS copy of Ultimate I received at the Heroes Happen {Here} event in 'Madison' (today). For the most part, everything is backed up, so it should be a painless install, no matter what happens. Five steps; Copying Windows files Gathering files Expanding files Installing features and updates Completing upgrade What's initially scary is the "Your upgrade may take several hours to complete.

Java is silly

My main computer is, once again, horribly low on free space. Running through my installed programs, I once again see the wonders of installing Java. Multiple versions of 1.4, 5, and 6. Checking my new Vista machine, I have Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1, but not the Java(TM) 6 Update 5 that my XP Home has. Are these really the same? Yes, yes they are (thanks for sticking with not only one versioning chain, but also one name, Sun).

An answer to a question about Jing Project

  • April 13, 2008
  • James Skemp
I hadn't heard of Jing Project until I was asked. Here's my response: I've not seen this before, but TechSmith is pretty well known, as far as the Morae/Camtasia (?) products, which basically allow you to record videos on your computer for demo or testing purposes. It sounds like they don't even know what they want to do with Jing, but it sorta sounds like they'd want it to compete against other photo-sharing sites, like Flickr.

Playstation 3 and the HP Pocket Media Drive

  • March 30, 2008

When I purchased my new HP a6360t, I also added in a HP Pocket Media Drive Bay, which allows me to directly connect in a HP Pocket Media Drive. In turn I'm easily able to add 160GB or 250GB of additional drive space, whenever I need it, to store various media (documents, music, photos, videos, etcetera). One thing I was curious about was whether the drive I had, a HP 160GB Pocket Media Drive, could be directly connected to my Playstation 3.

Over 10,000 digital photos taken

Yesterday afternoon I took digital photo number 10,000. Between the three digital cameras that I've owned (and excluding the one that I borrowed from my sister, which was a gift from her friend Char), I've taken the following. From April 6 2005 to May 9 2007, I took 2924 photos with a Canon 300D (Digital Rebel). From May 18 2007 to March 29 2008, I took 6447 photos with a Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D).

Are the Adobe Photoshop Express terms too tough to work with?

  • March 27, 2008
  • James Skemp
Recently the much anticipated Photoshop Express was released. However, crawling through the general terms of use there's a rather troublesome paragraph. Using the terms that are effective 3/1/2008, at http://www.photoshop.com/express/terms.html, we have the following at 8.a.: Adobe does not claim ownership of Your Content. However, with respect to Your Content that you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Services, you grant Adobe a worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable license to use, distribute, derive revenue or other remuneration from, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other Materials or works in any format or medium now known or later developed.
