Video review: Philips DLP2277 Attachable Battery Pack and Charging Base for iPhone and iPod (White)

  • February 26, 2011
  • James Skemp
The following is a review of the Philips DLP2277 Attachable Battery Pack and Charging Base for iPhone and iPod. When I ordered this item I was expecting only what the box suggested; a battery pack that could be connected to the iPod, which would charge the phone, and in turn be charged by the base station. Instead what I got was a box full of goodies. First you have the battery itself, which while of a fairly large size, seems to fit perfectly with the odd case I have for my iPod Touch.

Continuing with the tradition started last year, I present my favorite albums purchased in 2010. To be on this list I must have purchased the album in 2010. This also doesn't include all albums I purchased. Easy winners What Is Free To a Good Home? and Knives Don't Have Your Back - Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton : Emily Haines was on my 'too hard to tell' list last year, and this year I ended up picking up her four CD digital collection on iTunes.

Parsing iTunes data with C#

This application has since been updated. Read about the current version of iTunes Playlists to Xml. For better or worse, when I began setting up my iPod I opted to manually organize my iPod. In large part, this was because at the time I had a machine with a pretty small hard drive, and couldn't keep all of my music on it. However, with a new HP, I was able to store all my music on that computer, as well as back it up to a USB drive.

Review: Griffin's PowerJolt SE (9767)

  • July 4, 2008
  • James Skemp
Does exactly what you'd expect  I purchased Griffin's PowerJolt SE for use in my 2007 VW Rabbit, with my iPod Classic (80GB). The Rabbit has a power outlet that is somewhat recessed, so I didn't think some of the other car chargers would work as well. The design Griffin uses, however, is absolutely perfect, in that only the small top of the plug hangs above. This means all the power in less space then you'd expect.

Feedback to Apple regarding an Apple Store visit (my first)

  • June 26, 2008
  • James Skemp
The no checkout thing is weird. Had someone else (a Mac user) not a) told me about the process and b) told me about the store location, I would c) made the purchase online instead, and not gotten exactly what I think I want (/known about my other options) and d) would have been utterly confused about the checkout process :) But, the two people I spoke with while checking out were extremely friendly, and I was amazed by the quality of the store.

Review: Dynex - 6' 3.5mm Stereo Extension Cable - White

  • February 10, 2008
  • James Skemp
I have a 2007 VW Rabbit, which, in the glove compartment, has an auxillary input jack. Since I also have an iPod Classic, I really wanted to be able to listen to my music in my car, using my car's speakers. On January 5, I picked up this cable. It's a cable, so there's not a whole lot that they can mess up. From what I can tell, the quality coming out of my speakers is the same as when I use by earbuds or another set of good headphones.

Review: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80 GB iPod classic (Black)

  • February 10, 2008
  • James Skemp
On January 5th, I purchased a DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80 GB iPod classic. As the title suggests, this product is designed specifically for the 80 GB iPod Classic, and therefore may not work as expected for other iPods. The quick review: Overall, this case offers a good deal of protection, and the cord management feature, if you use the standard iPod buds, is rather helpful.

Why I decided it was time to purchase an iPod

  • January 5, 2008
  • James Skemp
Years ago I said I would never buy one. Yesterday, after lunch with my mom and sister, I stopped into Best Buy and picked up a black, 80GB, iPod classic. Of course, I was hit for various plans I could join - can't blame the guy, I guess - but left with just the iPod and Stranger than Fiction (Blu-ray), since I figured it was worth the $30 to make it my second Blu-ray disc.
