Why a philosophy major does Web development

  • December 16, 2008

Here's what my answer is: No, I did the standard Philosophy major with a minor in Humanistic Studies. In high school I liked doing Web stuff, even though my stuff was *horrible*, but I didn't want to do that for a career (hard to make a career out of something you love, and still keep that love alive - or so they say). Originally I was going for Psychology, but I was told that wouldn't be a good field for me, and my Biology grades were horrid.

Persona 4 pre-order goody = wow

  • December 10, 2008

Mustn't ... look ... too ... closely ... (already ruined one surprise) Atlus certainly out-did themselves this time, with the Persona 4 pre-order goody. While I was expecting the "Visual Data" bonus to be large enough to fit behind the game's case, like the Persona 3 bonus, this one is actually graphic novel sized. Very nice Atlus, very nice. And, with reviews like this, looks like we can expect a Persona 5 in the near future.

I own an Xbox 360

  • December 3, 2008

So I did it. Back on November 17 2007 I purchased a Playstation 3. I had debated, back and forth, the purchase of that versus the Xbox 360. At the time the Xbox was having quite a few issues, including overheating, power block malfunctions, and the wonderful RROD. However, as time has gone by, the number of complaints has gone down. Some say that the issues are basically resolved, and you just need to find newer systems.

New BlogEngine.NET Theme: 20081126

  • November 27, 2008
  • James Skemp
I've been working on a new theme for the site, since around 7 this evening ... and it's finally rolled out. This is along the lines of what I was thinking a couple weeks ago, but I actually grabbed some ideas from Microsoft's recent KB changes. This is the first theme I've created that used the widget functionality, and I can honestly say I'm still not that impressed with it. I still have to add some styles for coding that I add in, once I find a good sample (did I really just use blockquote?

LittleBigPlanet - First day, first thoughts

  • October 25, 2008
  • James Skemp
Right or wrong, GameStop was in stock and selling pre-orders of LittleBigPlanet today, so I was able to pick up my copy, along with the official guide. Thus far I've gone through four complete areas, and picked up the trophies accordingly. On only the first level did I actually get a 100% (but not the Ace award), and with the later levels, I had to retry a number of times.

See you later LG UX6000 - you've been swell

  • October 14, 2008
  • James Skemp
Good-bye LG UX6000. I've had you since August 2004, and you've been a great little phone. Sturdy and dependable, I didn't go wrong. Hello LG UX565, you're awfully cute. Sleek and simple, and oh so light. You take pictures and video, and have nice big buttons.   (If I would have got my phone today, instead of yesterday, it would have been 4 years and 2 months ...)

  • September 26, 2008
  • James Skemp
And so begins year three with Netflix. I covered year one and year two, of what was shipped to me, when, and when I shipped them back, previously. Since last year got a bit long, I'm going to break it up a bit. So, this post covers shipping from September 26, 2008, to about halfway through (I'm not there yet, so ...). Plan changes On 12/10/2008 I moved from the two-unlimited to the one-unlimited plan.

Since I now have actual content, there can be more visitors to Log Parser Plus, outside of the government. In additon to posting the articles here, I'll be posting a number of articles to Log Parser Plus in an attempt to make Microsoft's Log Parser utility that much easier. The initial focus will be on IIS-related queries, but who knows where it'll end up.
