What I can say about New York (City)

I've never been to New York City, at least, not that I can recall. However, media has, for various reasons, touched upon the city in a number of formats, in a number of ways, for a number of years. Without having ever been to New York City, I can say the following about it. Stay out of New York City. Common wisdom is right, New Yorkers are less human than people in other cities.

I've spent a couple of hours, the last couple of days, playing Persona 3 (Playstation 2). After winning certain battles, you can get a 'shuffle' mode of two or three cards (at least, as far as I've gotten). So, you see what the cards are, they turn over, and then they're shuffled. They are all usually good, but just to different degrees; for example, you might already have what one of the card would give, and you've been getting real crap for what another card would give, .

At approximately 2:30 Sunday afternoon a Pepsi Ball was spotted around 10 Market St in San Francisco. The Ball, which eventually killed Noah Ridge, 27, continued on it's rampage in the area, striking multiple vehicles. By the time the rolling rampage was over, $250,000 in property damages, 20 injured, and a nation lies in shock. At the time of this article, Pepsi Co. refused to return our calls. Our assesement? Pepsi, fitting its marketing, once again show contempt for those outside of its shareholders.

It seems the XML Validation service is down/unavailable/what-have-you, and many of the other XML validators just don't seem to work. However, Validome has a pretty good service. You have to make sure you grab the right language, but, other than that ... I've got my XML file - http://jamesrskemp.net/vehicle_gas.xml - validating with a DTD, but my attempts at getting a schema to work failed pretty hard ...

I've been a fan of Bruce Springsteen since I first listened to the album Born in the USA (on cassette), way back, many, many years ago. Most of the music/songs that I enjoy are because of women, but Bruce Springsteen is one of the few artists that I enjoy because of a man. In this case, my father had the tape, but it was women who gave the music true meaning.

Harlan Ellison is one of those authors who not only writes interesting things, but is also quite an interesting character himself (like Chuck Palahniuk, and Philip K. Dick). One of Ellison's major themes is love. He's written a good deal about it, and while I'm doing my research on love, I couldn't exclude Ellison. What follows are quotes from Ellison's pieces that reference that thing called love ... On the night that he actually paid for love, the night he physically reached into his wallet and took out two ten dollar bills and gave them to the girl, the creature took full and final shape.

Gavin sent me an invitation way back in June to join The Names Database. This morning, having received the final reminder email, I decided to signup. However, it seems that I have to invite 5 people (5 people who have never been told about this service) before I can join. Don't know 5 people? Sorry. You can try adding fake people, but chances are someone already tried those ([email protected] - already invited).

Note: This article was written using Log Parser 2.2. Therefore, while it may work for a different version, it may not. The following code will generate a listing of calls that generated a 404 error. logparser "SELECT cs-uri-stem, cs-uri-query, date, sc-status, cs(Referer) INTO 404report.txt FROM ex*.log WHERE sc-status = 404 ORDER BY date, cs-uri-stem, cs-uri-query" This assumes that you've currently got a command line open in the folder containing your IIS logs, and that you are logging the above information, as well as that logparser is setup in your PATH line.
