Good-bye LG UX6000. I've had you since August 2004, and you've been a great little phone. Sturdy and dependable, I didn't go wrong. Hello LG UX565, you're awfully cute. Sleek and simple, and oh so light. You take pictures and video, and have nice big buttons.   (If I would have got my phone today, instead of yesterday, it would have been 4 years and 2 months ...)

The newest versions of Subversion and TortoiseSVN were released just last week. My install guides for Subversion on Vista (and another with Subversion on Vista with Apache 2.2.x) and TortoiseSVN on Vista are still applicable. If installing Subversion with Apache 2.2.x, make sure you stop Apache before replacing files.

A brief guide/listing of specialists for Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (Playstation 2 Greatest Hits) is now available. While there are other guides available, I didn't find one that I could easily print out and make note of which character had which specialists. Now I've got one. Comments appreciated.

  • October 8, 2008
  • James Skemp
Granted, it's only a dollar more, but in this economy ... Dear James, As you may know, Blu-ray movies are more expensive than standard definition movies. As a result, we're going to start charging $1 a month (plus applicable taxes), in addition to your monthly membership charge, for unlimited access to Blu-ray movies. The additional charge for unlimited Blu-ray access will be automatically added to your next billing statement on or after November 5th, 2008 and will be referenced in your Membership Terms and Details.

Connecting to a WRT54G with a HP iPAQ 110

  • October 4, 2008
  • James Skemp
After playing around with settings, I was finally able to access my wireless network with my HP iPAQ 110. Here's what I did. Under Wireless > Wireless Security, set the model to WEP, setting a passphrase and generating keys. Make sure your wireless is enabled. Once the network shows in your iPAQ, set the Authentication to Shared and the Data Encryption to WEP. Select the key index and enter the key equal to the Default Transmit Key from the WRT54G.

  • September 26, 2008
  • James Skemp
And so begins year three with Netflix. I covered year one and year two, of what was shipped to me, when, and when I shipped them back, previously. Since last year got a bit long, I'm going to break it up a bit. So, this post covers shipping from September 26, 2008, to about halfway through (I'm not there yet, so ...). Plan changes On 12/10/2008 I moved from the two-unlimited to the one-unlimited plan.

Since I now have actual content, there can be more visitors to Log Parser Plus, outside of the government. In additon to posting the articles here, I'll be posting a number of articles to Log Parser Plus in an attempt to make Microsoft's Log Parser utility that much easier. The initial focus will be on IIS-related queries, but who knows where it'll end up.

Why does Google Chrome hate Flash?

  • September 21, 2008
  • James Skemp
For the last couple of days I've tried opening a Flash video within Google Chrome. By doing so, I've effectively killed not just Google Chrome, but also my OS while Chrome attempts to cope. I noticed from the beginning that Chrome's task manager listed the Flash plug-in as a separate 'page,' and thought it might cause issues, but this is pretty sad. I already forced an upgrade once, and and upgrading from 0.

First Stack Overflow question

  • September 20, 2008
  • James Skemp
I asked my first Stack Overflow question today. The one thing I didn't care for was that I couldn't figure out how to search by multitple tags, even though the site suggests that I can (using a space) ... I also don't care much for the number of subjective questions (but at least there's a tag for it). Now if only I could figure out how to exclude those that are community-building topics, versus those that are not .

Subversion and TortoiseSVN: Moving a repository

  • September 12, 2008
  • James Skemp
This evening I had to rename a project folder, since I was creating a site with the same name. Since I had the project (application) under Subversion, I also needed to move the repository. Here's what I did: svnadmin create b:\repos\_newName_ svnadmin dump b:\repos\_oldName_ > b:\repos_dump\_oldName_.dump svnadmin load b:\repos\_newName_ < b:\repos_dump\_oldName_.dump At this point I could either checkout the repository, or change where the checked out directory points to. I choose to relocate my working copy by right-clicking on my working directory and selecting Relocate from the TortoiseSVN menu.
