I've been keeping track of this for a while locally, but since I have a hard time remembering where the file is, as well as to update it every time ... here's the delivery schedule I've experienced with Amazon.com, for the free shipping option (unless otherwise noted). Most recent at the top, and does not include all deliveries. USPS December 6, 2010 03:51:00 PM Madison WI US Delivered December 6, 2010 09:27:00 AM Madison WI US Out for delivery

Shadow Hearts: Covenant leveling information

 • September 6, 2010
 • James Skemp
As I continue to look through my old files I found leveling information for Shadow Hearts: Covenant, from December 2005 to January (1st) 2006. I've converted it from an ODS file to XML, and am making it available. Shadow Hearts: Covenant leveling guide. Since I have a leveling guide for Shadow Hearts: From the New World (previously written about), it almost makes sense to go back and play the original Shadow Hearts to get information for that game as well.

Thoughts on the Kinect and Playstation Move

 • September 5, 2010

Laying aside the question of whether these are merely in response to the amount of money being made by the Wii, and whether the technology will be as lasting as history suggests 3D televisions will be, I've been thinking about the Kinect and Move recently. Here are my thoughts. How well will they work? This is the biggest question. Ever since they were first shown on television there's been the question of what environments will support the Kinect.

Importing a custom namespace / custom type into an XSD

 • September 5, 2010
 • James Skemp
I have a custom type that I use in a couple of my documents. Unfortunately, in the past I was adding this to each xsd, as I needed it. However, I've now figured out how to import it into xsd files as needed. Original schema Currently I'm adding the following at the top of each xsd: <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <xs:simpleType name="customDateType"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:annotation> <xs:documentation><![CDATA[Allows for a year, a year and a month, or a year, month, and day, to be defined.

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams data

 • September 3, 2010

From the archives, I've created an XML Schema and XML data file for Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, for the Playstation 2. Currently the data only includes armor leveling information, from level 1 to 100. The data comes from an OpenDocument Spreadsheet (OnimushaDawnofDreams.ods) from way back in May of 2006. My characters and core weapons being completely maxed (not to mention souls), I may decide to replay the game to track this information as well, or just upgrade weapons.

XML standards - personal suggestions

 • September 3, 2010
 • James Skemp
As I prepare to create another XML data file, I started looking at the standards I use to create XML files, and what the recommendations are. Elements In the past I've used camel case, but on a recent file used Pascal case instead. I think this was more becauase I've started to using Pascal case for public items (variables), and camel case for private items, as that's fairly standard in development.

Enabling PHP file_put_contents() support on IIS 7.5 on Windows Server 2008 R2

 • September 1, 2010

I've already installed the current verison of PHP 5.2 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, but unfortunately wasn't able to get content saved via the file_put_contents function. It seems that you need to add and give IUSR the necessary permissions on the file (or directory) in order for writes to work properly.

Windows 7 Home Premium changes for IIS 7.5 access of Users directories

 • August 28, 2010
 • James Skemp
Not feeling much like debugging it too much, I made a couple of modifications to my IIS installation to allow access to files contained within my user directory. Background I turned the Internet Information Services feature on on my Windows 7 Home Premium machine before using the Web Platform Installer to add additional functionality. However, I kept running into a permissions issue, as the sites I setup were located in my Users directory (C:\Users\James).

Review: AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to Mini-B Cable (6 Feet / 1.8 Meters)

 • August 23, 2010

This is a review of AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to Mini-B Cable (6 Feet / 1.8 Meters). I purchased this for an additional (and longer) cable for a Playstation 3 controller. It works perfectly (although I realize now I would have preferred a few feet longer - oh well). The fact that it comes in Amazon's hassle free packaging is another definite plus, although since the box was rather large, when I received my package in the mail, I thought perhaps it was the Blu-ray movies I'd purchased shaking about.
